Kate's Blog in China

We interrupt this trip in Avignon to share Kate's blog regarding her experience in China. Kate is the drama teacher and my inspiration for this trip in Avignon. I channel her at every play, and have conversations with her while I write my blog entries because she is a trained actress, director and teacher...not to mention her technical skills on a stage!

Kate and Charlotte, her daughter, are off on an eye opening trip (they left yesterday), and I can't wait to read and later hear about her experience. She is participating in the International Drama Education Association (IDEA) World Congress in Hong Kong this year.

This coincides nicely with our implementation of a Chinese language wing to our Modern and Classical Language department, and I am sure that this trip will expand on Kate's very own work in Asian Theater at our school.

Aw shucks, ma'am!
Oddly, I haven't found a Chinese play or adapted story that I want to do this year. Of course I could always ask for a script of the insane asylum piece from Shanghai...
However, I did get some amazing ideas from the productions I saw of how to add dance and music to a production. Asian theatre uses these related art forms so well in their theatre.
